West Moors Memorial Bowling Club

Monday Line-ups

The is one of the Club's oldest institutions, having been started in 1955, just 5 years after the founding of the Club.   It is a mixed event taking place on each Monday afternoon at 2.30PM (report by 2.20PM) open to all players and non-playing (Social) members.   The latter pay an appropriate green fee.    It is primarily aimed at bowlers who do not wish to play competitive league matches for reasons of choice or disability.   It is an excellent starting point for new bowlers wishing to sample the game and learn from the experience of fellow bowlers.   Most games are played as rinks (4 players in a team).    There is a trophy to be won at the end of the season by the player with the most points won throughout the season.

Report of 2008 Season:

This season has passed by very quickly.   We have not seen a lot of sun but plenty of gale force winds.   The numbers turning up for Line-ups have been low this year.   April/May averaged only 15 participants each session; June/July only 11 and August just 6 persons.   Let’s hope next year a few more members will join us.   Congratulations to David Leedham winning the cup this year with a score of 168 points.   Don Capel 2nd with 164 shots and George Winfield 3rd with 158 shots.   Once again my thanks go to all who helped me run Monday afternoons, in particular: Betty Anderson, Sandra Rhodes and Nancy Leworthy.   We look forward to seeing you all again in April 2009.
